CapitalOne - Small Business credit card offer
Multiple offers were sent to my home address, which at that time was
found only in my online resume.
- P. Sloan Foundation, Attn: Business Owner : the A.P. Sloan Foundation (no space after first period) appeared in my resume. I can understand a simple robot keying on Foundation to identify a business name, but it missed multiple other obvious business names on my resume,
such as "SRI International",
"Recourse Technologies, Inc",
"Stanford Research Institute",
"Dept. of ...",
- [blank] Attn: Eugene Spafford : Spafford is a professor at Purdue University (in Computer Security) and his name appears on multiple pages of references at my site, but those mentions are several levels down in a directory that is a sibling to the directory containing my resume.
Although my resume contains the usual list of significant publications, none of my listed co-authors were picked up, even though they were closer in context than Spafford.
And since the robot found Spafford's name, I don't understand how it missed the name of the many other authors listed on that and similar web pages.
Or conversely, if the robot found all those elements, I don't understand why
a postprocessing filter would have left these two entries while screening out
all the others.
