KatieGot the Holiday Blahs?
Six ways to avoid the "Bah-Humbugs!"
- Be realistic; don't try to do everything you "used to do."
- Be flexible. Maybe this is the year to scrap some of the old traditions, and start some brand-new ones.
- Plan to shop when the stores are least crowded; service is better and wear and tear on yourself is greatly lessened. Better yet, shop by phone or mail from wonderfully diverse catalogs.
- Feeling lonely? Call a friend and have a good chat. Don't wait for them to call you. Friends all gone? No better time or season to make some new friends: new neighbors down the block; that nice neighbor who always waves; some of them may be lonely, too.
- Feeling sad because of the loss of a loved one? It's OK not to feel "merry!" Give yourself permission to grieve, and share these feelings with your family, so they can understand why you're "just not up to it" this year.
- Do something nice for yourself: choose this one without my help -- but remember to keep eating healthy, and get enough exercise and rest.
Hope this helps you to a more relaxed holiday season.
